The shunt tripping device is an accessory for remote control of the switch opening, which is mainly used for remote switch opening to control the open circuit. The following is the detailed role of the shunt release：

1.The protective shunt trip of generator and excitation system plays an important role in the protection of generator and excitation system. When the generator is out of excitation or excitation system failure, the excitation current may increase rapidly, resulting in the generator output overvoltage. At this time, the sub-excitation release can be timely cut off the excitation power supply, to protect the generator, power grid and other equipment safe operation.

2.Remote control circuit breaker, shunt release for remote operation of low-voltage circuit breaker switch control. When the switch-off operation is needed, the electromagnet of the shunt tripper can be electrically attracted by pressing the normally open button, and the free tripping mechanism can be driven by the driving mechanism to make the low-voltage circuit breaker switch-off.

3.Short-time operating system is a short-time operating system, the coil power-on time generally can not exceed 1s, otherwise the coil will be burned. In order to prevent the coil from burning out, a fretting switch is connected in series with the shunt release. When the shunt release is absorbed by the armature, the fretting switch changes from a closed state to a disconnected one, even if the button is held artificially, the excitation coil is always no longer electrified to avoid the coil burning. When the circuit breaker closes again, the fretting switch returns to the closed position.
